The Power of Daily Practices

Having a Daily Art Practice can seriously amp up your creativity

I recently started two daily art practices, getting up at 5am (by choice!) so that I could have a full hour of uninterupted art time all to myself. This is the time when I work on my BIG mixed media paintings! I usually space out my hour with a break in between so that I don't get over worked and so I can return just 10 minutes later with a bit of a fresh perspective! The other creative daily practice I recently implimented was doing a watercolor painting a day! I am having so much fun (yes and some frustration) with this! I love thinking of something new to paint each day, learning how to mix and blend colors and now I am experimenting on different fun papers!

Setting aside time daily to improve a skill is so benificial in so many ways, your art can go to levels you never thought possible! Plus its kind of like being a mad scientist trying new things, seeing what works and what doesnt. You get to be your own teacher, and let me tell you friend IT IS SO REWARDING! Here are a few of my most recent Watercolor paintings!!!

Well friends I hope this inspires you to try something new, do it daily and before you know it it will feel odd NOT doing it!
